The dentist needs to ensure your oral hygiene is in tip top condition. Any necessary dental treatment has to be completed before you have your new teeth.
Your mouth has to be healthy before you have an implant placement as you risk unnecessary infection post surgery. Furthermore, you risk the bone around the implant failing to provide a strong permanent bond.
Several preparation visits might be needed before your mouth is in good shape and ready for surgery. Visits abroad for implants are laden with these potential risks if your mouth is not ready.
Will my implants be well cared for after surgery?
Excellent after implant care often makes the difference for implants healing after surgery and being assimilated seamlessly by the body.
So, make sure the Implant Dentist – being a highly trained ‘Implantologist’ – is available for you after placement. Also, the dental hygienist should have the latest and gentlest specialist Implant cleaning technology. This helps to avoid scratching the titanium where plaque bacteria can thrive. Plaque can attack the bond of the implant to your bone.
Implants need reviewing regularly post placement especially in the first 3-6 months. They need expert cleaned & checking every 3-4 months by a well trained hygienist (who knows implants). They ensure potential problems are avoided or rapidly nipped in the bud.
Again, going abroad makes it very hard to regularly & thus carefully monitor implants after placement.
How experienced is the dentist at placing implants?

5. Is my present jaw bone thick enough?
